Kaua'i in Winter

We celebrated our 30th Anniversary on the "Garden Island" of Kaua'i during Thanksgiving Week. It's a paradise of contrasts: balmy sunshine and misty rains, vigorous surf and placid rivers, lush green hills and desert canyons, lava crusted shorelines and pristine sandy beaches . Tops of mountains were veiled by clouds while waterfalls tumbled from the peaks in long vertical ribbons. Abandoned plantation buildings with rusty metal roofs once painted green presented a playful patchwork of Christmas colors. Two hundred dolphins raced alongside the sailing yacht at sunset. A trio of ladies with guitars and a ukulele serenaded at our table about a white sandy beach of Hawai'i.
