37, Lock Road, Ham (2001)

In October, we returned to England for the Manning Clamp and Partners reunion, the architectural firm where Don worked from 1979 to 1980. Our Christmas card that winter was a linocut of the little Edwardian house that was our home in Ham, near Richmond-Upon-Thames. Colleen was six then and Kelly just three. As soon as we landed this year, our very first stop was Ham and that very same house at 37, Lock Road. It had grown over the years with additions along the side and at the back, and is now gloriously dressed with vines of brilliant reds and greens. To our utmost delight, our next door neighbors were at home, Adam and Rosemarie Pendelski. We visited and laughed and had tea, picking up right where we had left off twenty-one years ago.
