Rain at Macchu Picchu

Macchu Picchu is an Inca ruin in the Andes of Peru, abandoned just prior to the Spanish conquest. For centuries it remained lost and forgotten, hidden at the top of a mountain overgrown with jungle vegetation. It was not rediscovered until the beginning of the 20th century. As the finishing touches were being made on my watercolor, a sudden rain shower blended the colors together into an indistinquishable mess. Months later, ink lines were added along the original pencil sketch guidelines, and the dormant watercolor re-emerged.
