28 Aug: Everett Nicholas Larry (ENL) born in Pekin, Illinois

1898 - PORTLAND
ENL living with family in Portland

1905 - PORTLAND
May-Sep: World Exposition in Portland

1906-8 - PORTLAND
ENL attends North Central Grammar School, later graduates from Washington HS.

1909-10 - PORTLAND
ENL is a draftsman for Raymond N Hockenberry (Crater Lake Lodge drawings in progress, construction begins in 1911)

1911 - PORTLAND
ENL is a draftsman for GA Eastman


1912 - McMINNVILLE
27 Jul: ENL opens practice as an architect in McMinnville
(NOTE: Original blueprints of the Rogers house are in Don Larry's collection, generously donated by Joan Azzeratti and and her mother, Zonweiss Rogers Mead. The family lived in the house continuously from 1912 to 1986. Very well preserved, it now houses a business, Electro-Design)

"Evidence suggests that few trained architects worked in McMinnville, and none have been associated with the bungalow idiom. During the bungalow period, however, one architect -- E.N. Larry -- drew plans for a residence which exhibited characteristics suggestive of the bungalow style."

1913 - McMINNVILLE
6 Nov: ENL marries Sarah Marie Turner (of Oklahoma) in Portland. They settle in McMinnville.


1915 - ASTORIA
16 Mar: ENL "opened an office at 542 Commercial St. for the practice of architecture & structural engineering. Mr. Larry will make residential designing a specialty." - Astoria Evening Budget

1916 - ASTORIA
May: "Plans and specifications have been prepared and the contract has been let by architect E.N. Larry of this city for a large attractive bungalow for F.L. Fry of the Astoria National Bank. It will have many build-in conveniences and when completed will be one of the best in the city. Plans and specifications have also been prepared by architect Larry for a large residence to be erected on Miller Acres by A.C. Miller of this city. It will be modern in every detail. Construction work will be started this week. Preliminary plans have been prepared for a number of business buildings and large residences." -Astoria Evening Budget, 5/10/16.

Aug: "E.N. Larry's house in Astor Court, construction on which began a couple of weeks ago, is well up and taking shape rapidly. This is the first of the houses that will be erected the scenic addition this summer and was designed by Mr. Larry. The arch at the entrance to Astor Court has been erected and painted and ads much to the appearance of the land. George M. Hyland, who has serviced the clearing of the lots in the new district plans on building a home there at once and several other owners of lots will do likewise. So ere long the welcome sound of construction will arise from the west end." - Astoria Evening Budget, 8/8/16.

ENL and family with one child living at 74 45th St [now 4502 Cedar].
Construction of the Hoefler House.
Nov: Port of Astoria completed.

1921 - TACOMA
20 Apr: ENL moves to Puget Sound, works for Hill, Mock and Griffin Co.

1922 - KELSO
Apr: ENL begins employment with Long Bell, Longview, Washington, and begins a considerable body of
Bridge Design and Engineering Work.
Drawbridge designed by ENL between Kelso and Longview built. (still in use)

Downtown Astoria destroyed by fire.

1923 - KELSO
Single track wood Howe span bridge built.

1924 - LONGVIEW
Building projects in Ryderwood commence
RYDERWOOD

1925 - LONGVIEW
14 Sep: ENL signs contract with Port of Kelso for dock construction near Longview.
Nov: Construction begins on Longview public docks.

LONGVIEW PUBLIC SERVICE SUBSTATION

1926 - LONGVIEW
15 Apr: Longview public docks completed

20 Apr: Pioneer Bridge, Longview, begins construction
21 Jun: Pioneer Bridge completed
1 Jul: Pioneer Bridge dedicated (now demolished)

30 Nov: ENL dies at Good Samaritan Hospital, Portland
4 Dec: ENL buried at Lincoln Memorial Mausoleum, Portland
